Marine permits to work
Depending on the activities to be undertaken while moored on Port Otago berths, ships are required to complete permits.

Marine permits
Marine permits are required to meet Otago Harbour marine by-laws. They are approved by Harbour Radio or the Duty Pilot.
Marine permits are required for:
- Hull external work
- Lifeboat deployment
- Engine immobilisation
- Diving, and
- Bunkering.
Health and safety permits
Health and safety permits are apply to high-risk activities. Ships must also supply an approved procedure for the task or an approved Job Safety Analysis (JSA). The Operations team or Cruise team review the forms and procedures, before any work begins.
Health and safety permits are required for:
- Working at height
- Hot work
- Confined space entry, and
- Special crane use.
