Otago has many must see attractions for you to experience during your day on land. The majority of cruise ships berth at Port Chalmers – the small port-side tow, 20 minutes from downtown Dunedin. Buses are available from outside the cruise terminal. Some smaller ships berth right alongside Dunedin City. Check out the cruise schedule to check your ship’s berth.
Dedicated cruise terminal
Port Otago recently spent $750,000 on a dedicated space for cruise passengers at Port Chalmers. The Cruise Terminal is a large, comfortable space, appreciated by the 250,000 passengers who pass through annually.
“The Port Chalmers’ cruise terminal is the best in the country. It delivers on all fronts - a great space to wait for tours, free wifi, ample seating, accessible information and everyone is welcoming and helpful.”
