Open Day

Port Otago is opening its gates on Labour Day Monday (28th October 2024), so our community can enjoy a rare look inside the fences of this key Otago business. The port turns 150 years old this year. What better way to celebrate than with our kaimahi and neighbours - the very people that we work alongside every day of the year.

Our gates open at 10:00am. At 10:30am, the action begins: port-wide bus tours, dredging, straddle and forklift displays, FENZ, Coastguard and Water Rescue displays, step on board a tug, get up close to our dredges, fishing off the wharf, bouncy castles, face painting – and exclusive add-on tickets available for crane tours, and rides on board the tugs and pilot boats. There will also be a selection of food stalls to satisfy hungry children and adults, alike. The day winds up at 3:00pm.

Proceeds raised from our event will be donated to Port Chalmers Maritime Museum, Dunedin Marine SARs Water Rescue, Iona Church, Koputai Lodge Trust, Otago Navy Cadets, Royal Albatross Centre and Terra Nova Sea Scouts.

We are looking forward to proudly showing off our operations. See you there!
